The Russian Summer Ball

Carynx was an official sponsor of the 21st Annual Russian Summer Ball, held at Lancaster House in London this summer. The 2016 event celebrated Her Royal Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday, the 120th anniversary of the coronation of Emperor Nicholas II, and the centenary of the Russian Flag Day movement in England.

Founded in 1996 by Alexander Ivanovich Suscenko, with members of the Russian émigré community and friends in the capital, the Russian Summer Ball is one of the highlights of London’s social calendar. Guests include the pinnacle of Russian society, with HH Princess Olga Andreevna of Russia being the Guest of Honour at the this year’s event.

Carynx contributed three of its luxury Highland Stag champagne coolers to the charity auction, which raised money throughout the evening for Rusfond UK, a charity that helps seriously ill children from Russia access life-saving medical care in the United Kingdom.

Other fantastic lots included the use of a Ferrari California for a weekend, a pair of custom made shoes, and a private dinner party catered by bespoke chef Johan Lobassa.

Entertainment included a performance from Britain's Got Talent Finalist, Alexandra Maria Skachko, ballet from first soloist Maria Sascha Khan, and a gymnastic display from the London Sport Academy.

Carynx was excited to play a prominent role at the Russian Ball which is a magnificent display of Russian tradition, one that holds true to the balls described in Tolstoy’s books 200 years ago. “The only difference being”, says founder Alexander Suscenko, “is that they are held outside Russia.”
